Sometimes it’s just hard to come to terms with change and I totally get that point of few. I really don’t think anyone in the city of Philadelphia actually “hates” the new look. It’s been 26 years since the Eagles have switched their logo and it was beginning to look outdated as other teams around the NFL started to make updates to their own branding. I know it’s not the popular opinion of Eagles fans, but honestly, I think that the the new, minimal, italicized font was a much needed change, despite everyone else absolutely hating it. The general consensus was “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. Immediately following the announcement, social media exploded with fan opinions on the new design and the majority of them weren’t thrilled with the new-look font of the future. The new wordmark replaces the iconic Eagles logo that has been well known with the midnight branding since the 90s.
